Creating a Tagline for Your Dream or Goal

Smiling young black woman

I always found that a goal or a dream needs to have a tagline. In business I always came up with a catchy phrase and used it every day to keep me focused and closer to my goal. Many people are challenged with finding a new job or keeping their existing job and my biggest advice to them is. Give yourself and your project a tagline.

The tagline which works well for people today who are looking for a change in their career or business is, “Good-Bye recruiter, Hello business coach!”

As I work with clients who are in career transition or progression, they have a notion that the right recruiter or the right recruiting firm is the answer. In fact, many of them don’t understand that recruiting firms are overwhelmed today and their model has changed anyway, they just submit resumes to their clients based on keyword searches. I know this first hand because I worked for global recruiting agencies for over 10 years and then I owned my own firm for 8 years.

Today’s situation in the job market is all about who is doing things differently and who can differentiate themselves from the competition.

Why should a firm hire you and not the other person?
What will a firm get from hiring you and not your competition?
What makes you stand out?
What makes you different?

All these questions need to be explored and developed and all that happens before you start your job search. Here is where a business coach for career progression comes in. At MTV Coaching working with Michelle Perchuk will give you a framework that you can use to be one step closer to your goal.
